Today I'm sharing with you another part of my summer trip last year. It's been so long, but as we say in Brazil "Recordar é viver".
So this is what Philadelphia is like: a very very lovely city. First of all, it was the only time I stayed at a hostel that is part of the group Hostelling International (HI). I took a train from Newark and arrived in the evening, then I took the subway towards HI. I had no trouble finding the place and the neighborhood seemed really nice. There are many restaurants, bars and diners in Market St. I was tired and desperately needing something to eat. And guess what I had for dinner? If you thought of Philly cheesesteak, you're right. The place (Sonny's Famous Steaks) was about to close, costumer service was awful (the cook yelled at us xD), and it probably wasn't one of the best in the city, but it served me well.
They were having a Movie & Beer Night at the hostel, but it was almost over by the time I went back, so I just finished eating, took a shower, brushed my teeth and had a very good night of sleep.
The next day I woke up and found paradise just round the corner. The place is called Happily ever after. The owner was extremely friendly, the decoration was the coolest and they have açaí in the menu! Everything was perfect. I highly recommend it!
Finally I went for a walk in the city, visited some famous places as you can see in the pictures, starting from Liberty Bell and the last stop was UPenn. I really enjoyed everything, the city itself, people, food transportation and accommodation. They were all good and affordable, I paid around $80 for a private room with a bunk bed, $12.50 to go from Newark to Philadelphia comfortably, I can't remember how much the fare costs, but you can even get discounts if you use tokens. In overall, it was amazing. I wish I could have stayed longer. Can't wait to go back.
